The dream of having a horse of her own has never come true. But another dream, of seeing the white horses at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna was realised in autumn 2011. They were white, beautiful and masterly. Yet, she felt disappointed. The video work “Kanske hade jag burit drömmen för länge.” (“Maybe I’d Harboured the Dream Too Long”) shows a white porcelain horse standing on its hind legs. It spins around and around in the spotlight.

Pernilla Zetterman’s work has been shown extensively in solo and group exhibitions, including the recent touring exhibition, The Helsinki School, and is represented in the permanent collections of Fotomuseum Winterthur and Hasselblad Foundation, among others.

Pernilla Zetterman lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. She studied photography in Sweden and Finland, receiving a postgraduate degree from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, an MFA from the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and a BFA from the School of Photography at Göteborgs University.
