Aida Chehrehgosha

Aida Chehrehgosha often creates pictures about violence. She tries to stage what she remembers from her childhood in a systematic and controlled way.

Chehrehgosha’s series is a construction of subjective memories, where she deals with a theme that is taboo – family violence and abuse. Her anger towards her parents was so strong that she often imagined them both to be dead. This was no easy situation and her anger was complicated by the love she had for them at the same time, it almost tore her apart. She distorts and pushes everything she has experienced to the extreme and tried to stage her parents death. Today though her work produces a feeling of meeting a family looking for reconciliation.

Aida Chehrehgosha was born 1980 in Tehran, Iran and moved to Sweden as the age of eight. She has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm 2009.
